Re: Vectis Auction 17th January 2020

Possibly a set of Worsley Works (or Trevor Charlton) etched sides/ends on a Ratio underframe. Built by Derek (not David as Vectis stated) Lawrence and painted by Larry Goddard £125 for each coach I consider them a good buy, especially as so few well made LNWR 4mm carriages come up for resale. Those ...

Re: London Road

Hi Roger, we are in the (very slow) progress of moving house t a nearby seaside town. The new property (fingers crossed) has a larger garden then we want to cultivate so I have commissioned a 28 x 14 garden office, which will also accommodate my planned new version of London Road, based upon the two...

Re: LNWR wagon grey

Mike,

the LNWR Liveries book quotes 50/50 black and white for wagon grey. I had an aerosol mixed at Halfords to this ratio.I was surprised by how dark it was when I spayed a 4mm wagon, but haven't compared it to the PPP painted ones that I have but from memory it was darker.

Re: London Road

London Road has come a long way since I made the first post in this brief thread. Having been shown at a number of exhibitions, I decided to extend the layout and create a through station format. The revised track plan was approved by Richard Foster as being representative of LNWR practise and he al...

Re: Hattons announce 4 & 6 wheel carriages in LNWR livery

I have good reason to believe that a RTR model of Hardwicke in OO will be manufactured and available at some future date, possibly through the NRM. As there hasn't been a formal announcement yet, and these usually precede actual availability by at least eighteen months, late 2020 or 2021 would seem ...

Re: A couple of coach queries

I can't comment about the suitability of using the Ratio kits to create other carriage Diagrams. I don't think that this has been a common approach, especially given the extensive availability of etched LNWR carriage kits in 4mm. The D1 Semi Royal Saloons were produced as a set of end/sides in etche...

Re: Tyre fastening’s on Hardwicke

I wonder if this implies they are interested in commissioning a 4mm (00) for sale through their subsidiary retail outlet "Locomotion"? I was asked to show a model of a Precedent ((referred to as a Jumbo) on London Road at the 2018 York MRS. We altered the schedule to do so. Having seen it, the enqui...

Re: Model Railway Journal No. 263

London Road has now appeared in the November issue of Railway Modeller. A different "house style" and I wrote a different article hopefully to reflect that. A piece on the Society was also included. The LNWR in 4mm has now been represented in two major modelling magazines in 2018, covering a wide ra...
