Had a very enjoyable afternoon tea yesterday in the Saloon whilst travelling from Bedale to Redmire and return. Highly recommended!

Among the snippets about the carriage relayed by the staff were:
* the unusual individually sprung 6-wheel bogies
* King George V is said to have favoured the saloon over the then royal carriages and is said to have insisted on it being used for his West Coast journeys
* the steam heating still works (they hope...)

The trains run until the end of October but there may be one or two specials in December.

Attached are photos of the electrical boxes in the staff area. Was hoping to find the original toilet in situ bu this compartment has been brought up to modern standards...
