An enquiry received via the 'Enquiries' link from the 'Webb-site'.

Withington Civic Society in South Manchester have contacted the Society for help in restoring some bridge panels that have been salvaged from two bridges that have recently been replaced on the Manchester to Wilmslow line. The panels are cast iron, and were in place at Fog Lane, at Burnage station, and over Mauldeth Road at Mauldeth Road station.

The Civic Society are having the panels cleaned and would like to restore them to their original colours as when the bridges were first erected. Can anyone advise on the original paint scheme that these panels would have worn, and also any additional information on the bridges would be appreciated.

A copy of the Society's publication with pictures of the bridges in question is available from the LNWRS Secretary - it's too large for the Forum.
