This is an enquiry received via the website, relating to the attached photo of a rather nice wooden bureaux.

The owner advises that the bureaux has been in his family for many years. The key is marked "LNWR" and the lock is stamped "L&NWR". He is interested in learning whether the item would have been manufactured by the LNWR or whether it would have been purchased from an external supplier. Any insights into what the bureaux could have been used for or where it might have been used would also be much appreciated.

Probably genuine, but most likely made by an outside supplier. Use - stationery cupboard?? Location - impossible to say, guess one of the more important offices.
