The LNWR Society Journal carried a cover photo of a three-ton Foden steam lorry involved in a 'Win the War' procession to recruit women into the railway service in September 1918. Steven Lomas of the Facebook Group 'Colourising Railways' was kind enough to reproduce the photograph in colour. Hopefully he hasnt made too many errors with the colours used.

The procession took place on Saturday 21st September 1918 and was to record the contribution made by Birmingham to the war effort. There were floats from many firms involved with war production. The procession ended in Victoria Square where (it was reported) 20,000 people attended to see the proceedings. There was a contingent of American soldiers marching in the parade.
